L4D and TF2 ... Go Valve!
I'll have these on DC++ in case anyone has already packed down.

Re: Steam Update ...
Bleeding hell Steam really dicked us about yesterday, almost killed off Friday night gaming for some of us
no more of that nonsense please Valve

Re: Steam Update ...
Unfortunately, that is exactly the nonsense we put up with EVERY LAN. Thank goodness for UT and Warsow as we decided to put off the TF2 games till Saturday after messing around for something like 2 hours, hoping by then more of us had got whatever we needed and the rest could be aided.
Got there in the end. Unfortunately, Steam is both a fantastic provider of games and chat across the LAN while simultaneously being its own worst bitter enemy throttling itself Tyler Durdan style.
VALVE. REMEMBER. LAN. PARTIES.

this is mostly why i actually support the fact raising LL's price to £20 in hopes of better internet connection because problems like this are just not on : /

I agree.
I'm perfectly happy to pay a little bit more if it means that the LAN is better proofed against any tomfoolery on Steam's part.
