Prize Winning Tournament News!
Following the kind offer from Novalogic to provide us with some gifts to support out LAN we have decided that it is only good and proper that we run a Joint Operation:Typhoon Rising Tournament. This superb game is in my own opinion absolutley great in a LAN environment and I am sure that you will all have a great time playing.
Ideally we would have loved to have run a demo version to encourage the maximum number of people to play but since the multiplayer demo is Internet only we will have to run the tournament with the full version of the game. I realise that not everyone has a copy of the game but a quick trawl around the 'net has produced a great deal from the
http://www.mx2.co.uk website which is currently selling it for ?17.95 delivered to your door, and of course there is http://www.play.com for ?17.99 delivered if you need to spend the extra 4p, and also in my travels I found no less than 10 copies being sold for less than ?12.00 on eBay.
It is a great game and will make a great tournament and I hope you will all choose to take part in teams of up to 6 persons to be played in a league format.
The winning team will recieve a Joint Operations T-Shirt each, and the player chosen by the Tournie managers as being the most impressive performance will recieve a copy of the Escalation expansion pack (in the event that they already have it we'll work something out).
So ... get practicing ...

Hmm, dilemma here. I doubt I'll be playing this game when I'm at home, so if I buy it will only be for the sole purpose of playing at the LAN, so that's ?18 quid for a one-off use. But, of course I'd like to take part.
When I spoke about this with KF though he gave me a very good suggestion - rent it for the weekend. So I expect I'll end up doing that.

Are you suggesting that we have a Operation Flashpoint tournie instead?

I've played this game at a couple of previous HG-LANs. It was too large scale for the amount of people we had at the time but we spent a huge chunck of the LAN playing it in Co-Op mode. That was a lot of fun
