LlamaLAN 6 - 2 Weeks and counting!
Posted: Fri Oct 14, 2005 12:04 pm
So what's happened in the last week?
We now have 35 FULLY PAID UP PARTICIPANTS ... this should leave us with NO places to fill ... or does it?
Because the LlamaLAN crew hate to disappoint anyone we are extending the signups a little further than we have before, no longer is LlamaLAN 6 a mere 35 participant event, no, we are stretching the boundaries to .... 38! OK, it's not a huge increase, but we want to remain well within safe margins on the electric supply.
These places are available to anyone who wants them, be it a completely new signup or someone who has decided that they'd rather play than watch. So if you know anyone who was interested in attending but missed out on the chance here is their opportunity
The idea of having a fancy dress party has been raised, please visit the thread on the LlamaLAN 6 forums to let us know what you think, personally I love the idea, and I'm sure that if 'der Management have the time we'll be joining in too.
With the likelihood of QUAKE 4 being released in the week prior to LlamaLAN 6 there is a poll to find out if it is something we would like to include. It currently stands at 70% FOR the playing of Quake 4, but we would like EVERYONE who is going to be playing at the LAN to vote, even if it is merely to say no.
The voting for the rest of the games for the LAN is still shaping up, and it looks like CounterStrike:Source and Battlefield2 are romping away in the lead, but you still have a chance to stop them, either vote if you haven?t already, or you can shift your votes from one of your far outsider choices to something which is in contention. Such classics as Quake3, AvP2, and DawnOfWar are only just behind the lead and your vote could help propel them to the top of the leader board!
Remember that those 3 spaces are up for grabs for the first people who want them and are willing to pre-pay to get them. Your place is only secure once you have paid for it, you may have been signed up for months but if the last place is paid for before you get there you may be missing out.
The t-shirt design has been finalised, but due to incompatibilities between the design and the printing technique, we are having to look at alternative printing methods, so WATCH THIS SPACE for further information. You can see the design in the LlamaLAN 6 Gallery on the website ? it is indeed a thing of beauty and I am itching to get my hands on the first one that comes hot off the press.
In further news, ProjectorGames, a regular feature at LlamaLAN events will be previewing some superb new games, and showing off improved versions of the old classics. The artificial intelligence of the bots in 'Team Commando' are been vastly improved to expect some really tough matches there, '1942' now has the '1,000 Plane Challenge', destroying successively larger waves of planes against a time limit to stretch us to our limits and that's just the improved games. We also have the first public showing at a LAN Party of 'Rush Hour Racer' and 'Track and Field'. 'Rush Hour Racer' finds us hurtling to through traffic at increasingly terrifying speeds until you meet a fiery death, whereas the more wholesome 'Track and Field' finds you hammering buttons in the style of some favourite 1980s sports games to propel your player to athletic super stardom. So in those few hours where you need a break from your monitor but can't sleep PG will keep you amused for hours on end.
We also have the seating plan available to view in the LlamaLAN 6 Gallery. We think we have got everyone sat where they want or need to be but with only 3 spaces to play around with it is likely to stay like it is with perhaps only a couple of minor adjustments. Please let us know if you spot any major flaws.
Don?t forget that we can answer any questions in the forums, by e-mail, and of course in the QuakeNet IRC channel #llamalan.
See you there
