LlamaLAN 19 - SOLD OUT and Games List
Posted: Sat Mar 02, 2013 11:54 am
LlamaLANers,
The cutoff date has come and gone ... in the past this has always been a terrifying date for the LlamaLAN management and those pledged to attend an event, it was the date of no return, or even worse, of no LAN.
It marked a day when, if we hadn't sufficient paid attendees the LAN couldn't run even in its most basic form.
THESE DAYS ARE NO MORE! Technically the date is still there, but with the popularity of LlamaLAN and the commitment of those attending it no longer hold any fears for us!
LLAMALAN 19 SOLD OUT a week before the cutoff date, with the minimum number to run the event being hit almost before the previous event finished!
The LlamaLAN Management Team would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who has supported LlamaLAN in the run up to this event, be it paying up promptly, to the wonderful word of mouth advertising that many of you carry out in your daily lives. As we have said before, LlamaLAN is a community led event, the management team can only make the best event we can, but it comes alive with the people who attend.
We're so popular that we have a queue of people waiting to pounce eagerly on any cancellations. If for any reason you find yourself unable to attend, fear not, let the management team know as early as you can and we will promote your ticket and re-sell it to the next willing attendee, this means that you will have a pre-paid ticket ready to assign to the next event and have already helped the next event hit its target, and the current event will remain packed to the rafters.
As promised we have reviewed the totals accumulated from the games lists of those attending and have formulated the big games that we will be running and the traditional 1v1 tournament ...
1v1 - Quake III Arena
Big Game 1 - Left 4 Dead 2
Big Game 2 - Team Fortress 2 [free] - King of the Hill
Big Game 3 - Alien Swarm [free] - Time Trial
So, two of the four tournaments are using free games which you can download through Steam, the third is a popular favourite that has been supported well as a tournament before, and the fourth a classic game that defined its genre for a generation has received a recent ground swell of popular support from the community forums.
If you haven't contacted your captain recently, please pop into the forums to say hello and report in for duty by expressing your interest in the games listed. Make sure that you have given them your Steam name and have been added to the general LlamaLAN group, the next event group, and to your team group. This will allow us to schedule event before and during the event and ensure that everyone can start to foster the team spirit that LlamaLAN is renowned for.
See you all online soon, and we'll be at the LAN before you know it!
