Llamalan - the First one.

LLAMALAN 2002

We should give big rounds for Kanonfodda, who busted his gut and bent over backwards (which was fun to watch) to make sure the LAN went as smoothly as possible. Lots of blood, sweat, time and money went into this four-day event, which, as far as I know, everyone enjoyed. Also, the effort of the attendees should be recognised as players came from across the UK, and of course Magic who came all the way from Germany! For those who didn?t make it, prepare to bear your buttocks and be branded by Ragnor as a lazy dummy! (Service also available by special request J)

In attendance was Pantburster, Yazor, Magic, Spanner, Roachie (Spanner?s mate), Axe, Kanonfodda, Ragnor, Bender, Third Eye, Stella, Shabby, Vampyre, Steady, Mikeh, Nuggi, Kryton, Cu, a couple of work colleagues, some other mates and myself.

While there were no specially organised events, several games were played and well supported throughout, the most popular game being the latest and greatest Battlefield 1942, which saw 12 players at once at one time. Other games played in no particular order were Q3A, Q3F, UT2003, and JK2.

On BF1942, we tried to keep the teams evened out and saw many cool and funny moments. I personally enjoyed my warfare-on-sea on the Midway map against Ragnor, who acted as the aggressor in a piddly little Frigate against my mighty destroyer. J Needless to say I blew him out of the water, but not without taking damage. My destiny was confirmed immediately afterward when he shouted from the next room ?Now I have a BIGGER ship then you!? * Gulp! * Shouting for an engineer, Kanonfodda replied by spawning as an engy and then promptly falling off his boat. J Against the odds we managed to time the boat and his swimming so he could grab hold of the nets hanging down the side to climb in and fix me up. LOL. True enough though, Ragnor came sailing along and wiped me out. J Cu unveiled himself as a killing machine and scored in the top three every time, usually at no.1. I took comfort in the knowledge that he?s on our side! A new recruit, Kryton, also played and showed good potential. Spanner is a superb pilot who, on his ping of zero, made very successful strafing and bombing runs. For a while we had 4v4, but Ragnor, cu, Magic and Kryton made an evil team and often won every map they played together.

Q3A and Q3F provided a lot of amusement with plenty of the attendees at once. Magic dominated us every time with his well-known skills. Axe also showed he hadn?t lost his touch with some well-timed shots. Spanner was fighting us off with impressive skill. The top three spots were frequently Magic, Spanner and myself (unless it was an ?in space? map), but the important thing is my side hurt from the laughing, especially when we started playing with the gravity. There?s no way I could explain what was so funny, you just had to be there. J

UT2003. Spanner emerged on his zero ping as a DM king, often contending with Magic for the top spot. Steady and a couple of work colleagues embarked on a frag fest with us and did pretty well too. There?s something disturbing in how funny it was to watch myself crumple up and plummet like a rag doll or get blown into many pieces. J Jedi Knight II was definitely ruled by Spanner. We didn?t do too much here but played on the Death Star deathmatch map, running around Force Pushing and Gripping and swinging our fancy sabres around like madmen. Spanner showed a remarkable ability in picking up other players and dropping them down holes. The force is strong with him... do not underestimate the power of the peen!

There was an ftp server up 24/7 where many of us shared all kinds of goodies. Also featured was ?drunken buckaroo?, where a certain player fell asleep at the desk and everyone else tried to hang as many objects off of him as possible before he woke up! Certainly a more classic and unique multiplayer game. J

There are photos and video footage (yes, video footage) coming soon. As soon as they start becoming available you?ll hear about it. All in all, a successful event, onwards to the next LAN, where hopefully more of you can plan for it and attend!

Can't remember where but the video was available for a while. I still have it (200mb) but where to put it so you can download it... hmmm... any ideas?

Hang on...

Yazor what are you like!!? You were the first one to respond to the original post which included the links:

The vid file is no longer at that location. If you have an FTP location for me, I'll put it there. :)

I confess, I remember now. I think it's cause I never saw myself on the vid.

Such a camera whore.
